An Open Invitation to the ICPC Community — 29 July 2026

Dear ICPC Family,

For more than half a century, ICPC has brought together hundreds of thousands of bright minds worldwide to solve difficult problems in teams under a ticking clock—with joy, together. We have built a body of practice, pedagogy, and insight into solving hard problems together.

The ICPC Foundation was created for you—to support projects and share knowledge through ICPC U, the ICPC Competitive Learning Institute Symposium, and other programs. We are delighted to promote a shared, peer-reviewed scholarly home: the ICPC Journal for Competitive Learning.

The ICPC Journal recognizes competitive learning as a serious field of scholarship. The rigor our community demands is global in reach and robust in practice. Across more than three thousand universities in over one hundred countries, problems, judging systems, training methods, and educational practices are examined at scale. Ideas are tested, refined, and tested again.

Much hard-won knowledge remains in notebooks, archives, coaching conversations, and community tradecraft. The ICPC Journal will preserve this treasure and close a gap in scholarship. Together, we can examine and share it rigorously and reproducibly.

We welcome work on pedagogy, problem design, team dynamics, training, judging, fairness, program-building, and the intersection of competition, computing, and education.

If you have taught, coached, competed, judged, organized, or designed problems, you can contribute. The next generation will stand on the record we build together.

We are blessed to share in the Renaissance of the Information Age. Let us now lay this cornerstone in the foundation of the Digital Millennium—together.

We welcome your work and voice to the ICPC Journal for Competitive Learning!

Best,
Dr. William B. Poucher, Ph.D.
ICPC Foundation President
